SpLD Diagnostic Assessments

Assessment is often the first step to understanding the obstacles that are getting in the way of progress and unlocking talent and self-belief.

Diagnostic Assessment

All dyslexia diagnostic assessments are carried out in a ‘real-time’ 1:1 environment in one of our centres by a Chartered Dyslexia Assessor.  Dyslexia assessments are not 'tests' that want yes/no answer. They are tests that are designed on understanding the strengths of each individual which underpin interventions and positive strategies to move forward in all aspects of your life. All of our assessments are followed up by professionally written report by one of our Chartered Dyslexia Assessors.

What is a diagnostic assessment?

This is the most comprehensive kind of assessment focusing on dyslexia. Whilst the intention is to identify dyslexia the assessor may be to offer professional advice and guidance on other specific learning difficulties which often co-occur or co-exist with dyslexia. It is called a dyslexia diagnostic assessment because it aims to diagnose (and, if diagnosed) identify your dyslexic needs. The dyslexia assessment process usually takes between two and three hours.

Reports provide the results of the main findings and recommendations for actions that will help find the most appropriate way forward. Diagnostic assessments are needed in certain circumstances for example, for those wishing to claim the Disabled Students Allowance for University.
